What you think of episodes 5-8? Feel free to talk about prior episodes too, just nothing ahead!
I'm still an episode behind but I wanted to mention something that didn't really make much sense to me. It's that part where Kurama is trading his life to save his mother's, and Yusuke attempts to trade places with him and offer his life instead. He says something to him about how it's unbearable seeing a mother mourn over the loss of her son. I don't get that. He's going to trade places with Kurama and put his own mother through all that instead.. AGAIN?! He already saw what it did to her the first time, he JUST mentioned how awful it is to leave your mother behind and then he tries to do it all over again. It seemed like they were trying to expand on that selfless hero angle, but it doesn't work for me here. But also, maybe they're showing that he's still rash in his decision-making and that he still hasn't realized how his actions affect others. I dunno.
Another thing is that it didn't end up taking either of their lives. I thought at the very least, it would take half of both their life-spans, but it kinda just gives them a pass. (Or maybe it comes up again later, I don't really remember anything about it in my original viewing of the series.) It felt like a cheap way to have both characters live.
Anyways, those are my gripes with the current episodes. I'll be back to say stuff about episode 8 when I get around to watching it.
