Every forum has rules. The Fanmade section of Kai Kanji is no exception to this. Kindly abide by all forum rules while posting.Last updated 28/03/2011 General As always, abide by all forum rules when posting. This includes the Kai Kanji Code of Conduct and the Otaku Division Rules. Always use your common sense. When in doubt, message Deko or myself (preferably myself, as I am this forum's mod) before posting anything within the Fanmade forum.
People are free to comment in threads if they so desire.
Posting 1. If you want to post in the Fanmade forum, the first thing you must have is something fanmade. Made by you, the poster, and not someone else. That is plagiarizing, especially if you state that it is your own work. Plagiarizing is not tolerated.
- If you have permission from the original creator to post their work, then that is fine. Simply state that the fanmade article you are posting is not your own, give proper credit, and, if applicable, a link to the source.
2. You must stamp the title of your topic. How does one do this? Well, the first stamp must be of the medium your fanmade article is, and it must be surrounded with square brackets. There are several stamps: [FF] (for fanfiction), [FA] (for fanart), [FV] (for fanvideo), and [FST] (for fan soundtrack). The second stamp must be of the anime or manga the fanmade article is for. If it's a short title, then it's okay to post all of it. However, if it's long, be sure to abbreviate it. Some examples:
- Nabari no Ou = [NnO]
- Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru = [UraBoku]
- Katekyo Hitman Reborn = [KHR!]
An example of an acceptable title is: [FST] [KHR!] Time of Dying If necessary, I may make a list of accepted abbreviations for certain series.
3. We don't want any pornography here. Keep the site clean. All material posted must be rated PG-13 or less. Regarding songs, lyrics with cursing are allowed (just not too excessive or explicit). For fanfiction, we don't want any pornographic material. (i.e. outright, blatant sex). We also don't want overly explicit (be it nudity or violence) fanart or fanvideos. Brief, non-explicit nudity (regarding fanvideos) is fine, but anything more than that is a definite no-no.
- An example of an animanga that may be rejected is Elfen Lied. Notorious for its gore and nudity, Elfen Lied has quite an ample amount of almost everything. Fanart, fiction, and videos regarding Elfen Lied will not be accepted if they include the things aforementioned. We will obviously be more lenient with fan soundtracks; so long as the coverart is "clean", and the lyrics aren't too explicit, they will be accepted.
4. You might have noticed that I keep saying "accepted". Once you post anything fanmade, I review it. If it falls under the rules, I will allow it to exist. If it violates any of the rules, I will delete it. (or Deko or one of the other mods, if I happen to not be available) This forum is constantly moderated.
5. Kindly do not link us to sites that contain pornographic material or sites that promote the pirating of anime or manga.
Fanart 1. As stated under the “Posting” section, we will not allow fanart to contain explicit violence, gore, or nudity; we will also not allow sexual situations in fanart. If you’re not sure what this means…do you know deviantART? You know how whenever you have an explicit image, it goes under the “mature” filter and you have to log in and be of a certain age to see it? Yeah. If you have fanart that needs a censor, or if it goes above PG-13, then just don’t post it.
2. You may either link us to the image (on Photobucket or deviantART) or simply post the image right in the thread. Be sure that the width doesn’t exceed 500 pixels, though.
3. In the thread itself, you are to include the following: the full title of the anime/manga the fanart is based off of, and a short description. You may or may not list the characters depicted in the fanart.
Fanfiction 1. Please don’t post fanfiction with explicit sexual situations and/or explicit gore. Please don’t link us to fanfiction with such content, either. If you have a piece of fiction that you really, really want to post but can’t because of this rule, you may remove the “naughty bits” or “gory bits” and post a clean/censored version of it.
2. As with fanart, you may either post the fanfiction within your thread, or link us to it.
3. Feel free to link us to your Fanfiction.net account!
4. If your fanfic happens to be long (multi-chaptered), please state that in the first post. You may post new chapters to the thread, preferably in separate posts.
5. In the thread itself, you are to include the following: the full title of the animanga the fanfiction is based off of, and a brief summary or teaser. You may or may not list the characters depicted in the fanfiction.
Fan Soundtracks 1. Every fan soundtrack must have a minimum of ten tracks. These songs may be English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Polish, German – whatever you want. They may also be instrumental or video game music, whatever fits the theme of the soundtrack.
2. Post layouts should be fairly uniform: the coverart, the title, then a list of tracks. Also, you must include a download link to the FST. Mediafire is the preferred and most-used method.
3. Soundtracks should also have a well-defined theme. It can be the relationship between two (or more) characters. It can be a singular character. It can be the whole animanga in general. But it must have a theme, and you should state the theme somewhere in your post.
4. All coverart are to be a standard 380 x 380 pixels, nothing more and nothing less. As with fanart, covers may not have explicit nudity or gore, and they may not depict sexual situations. As a general rule of thumb, coverart usually depicts the characters related to the FST. For example, if you were to make a Katekyo Hitman Reborn! fan soundtrack depicting the relationship between Sawada Tsunayoshi and Sasagawa Kyouko, the coverart would feature Tsuna and Kyouko.
5. Fan soundtrack titles are usually derived from one of the track names, generally the one that the other songs are based on, or the one that has the most accurate or deep lyrics. However, it is perfectly acceptable to "play around" with a song title – substituting or removing words if necessary.
6. In the thread itself, you are to include the following: the full title of the animanga the fan soundtrack is based off of, and a brief summary or explanation. You may or may not list the characters depicted in the fan soundtrack.
Fanvideos 1. As with fanart and fan soundtracks, neither the lyrics nor images depicted in the video may contain explicit swearing, nudity, or violence. Brief, non-explicit nudity is fine (and by non-explicit I mean ecchi, or Wolf and Spice-style), but anything above a PG-13 rating will not be allowed.
2. All fanvideos must be linked to via Youtube. Alternatively, you may post a download link instead.
3. In the thread itself, you are to include the following: the full title of the anime or manga the fanvideo is based off of, whether it is an AMV (anime music video) or MMV (manga music video), and a brief summary or explanation. You are also to include appropriate credit for the song(s) used. You may or may not list the characters depicted in the fanvideo.
Criticism 1. If you desire criticism, you may state this somewhere in your original post.
2. Criticism is allowed, as implied by the previous rule; however, flaming is not allowed and any such posts will be deleted. Flaming is when someone posts purposely derogatory and hurtful comments about whatever it is that the person (original poster, to be referred to as OP henceforth) has created a fanmade article for. This includes, but is not limited to, fandom and characters. Criticism allows someone to improve. It may be hurtful, but it does not contain malicious intent. Flaming is simply hurtful words meant to hurt the OP as much as possible.
3. If an OP finds that their work has been flamed, they are urged to PM either myself or Deko as soon as possible. The offending comment(s) will be removed.
4. As a guideline for those giving criticism, crit is meant to be constructive, something that will allow another individual to improve. Some examples could be:
- "You should work on your anatomy" (regarding fanart)
- "I think that you could have worked on your timing a bit more" (regarding fanvideos)
- "You should work on your grammar and spelling, and I think your pacing is too fast" (regarding fanfiction)
- "I think that you should work on your song choices, since these seem to be too 'hard' for this sort of subject matter" (regarding fan soundtracks)
All these examples enable the OP (and anyone else, for that matter) to take the words to heart and try to better themselves.
If you have any questions or concerns, please private message me.
